Listen Up!
My name is Libbie Smith and I am in my third year of my Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan. In April 2019, I convocated (the first time) with my Bachelor of Music Honours and I am very excited to continue to work towards my vocation as a music educator!
My hobbies include performing in ensembles, playing instruments, listening to music, dancing, reading, painting with water colours, spending time with loved ones, being outside in nature, and taking care of animals! Also, I’m a heavy metal kind of girl, and my major instruments are the euphonium (a baby tuba) and the tenor trombone (the one with the slide).

I have been so blessed to have gone where my music has taken me. I currently perform with the University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra and the Saskatoon Brass Band and I have performed with other ensembles including the University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble, numerous Provincial Honour Bands, and the National Youth Band of Canada which in 2017 took me to Vancouver, and in April, will take me to Halifax. I have been to many places for my music, such as: Lloydminster, Edmonton, Banff, Calgary, San Francisco, North Battleford, Saskatoon, Regina, Melfort, Prince Albert, Vancouver, and soon to be Halifax! And I am sure to have forgotten some places too!
After April this year, my euphonium and I will have traveled from coast to coast in this beautiful country, sharing musical experiences with other musicians from different provinces. I am extremely grateful for these musical experiences and opportunities. I can’t wait to provide the same opportunities for my future students.
Music matters and I am so excited to continue to share why it does!
